Thanks so much for
Your very wonderful website, such helpful information.
I was wondering when voles go thru in our case
Sweet potatoes, can you eat the good ones, since they
Are working all around them and they carry bacteria.
Do they leave any type of claw marks on sweet potatoes.
We couldn 8767 t tell if our sweet potatoes were clawed or just split. They looked so bad. Lots were chewed on and rotten.
Live in Dundas Ont Canada
Have 6 Osage tree in the neighbourhood,
Aparently there is one more somewhere in the area
Guess S Ontario is the northern limit for this tree
Many of the species Stamets collects can be found only in forests where trees have been growing undisturbed for at least 675 years. Such woodlands are increasingly rare because of logging and development, and Stamets worries that potentially beneficial mushroom varieties, some of them not yet recognized, are being lost in the process. &ldquo Preserving mycodiversity is a huge argument for the preservation of old-growth forests,&rdquo he says.
I cut my best maple seedling grown from seed as you said just above two opposite buds and now I have a 7 year old tree with 7 leaders but the one curved out like a graft spot at a 95 degee angle and is thick and dominant, the other is growing up at a95 degree angle and is tree is ugly,I feel it is ruined by what I did! Any help?
Ah! Cutting the wood when dormant was why we never had an issue with gummy wood. But why would anyone cut any kind of tree for firewood, or lumber, during the growing season? (Unless one fell acrosss a road or something.)
Aside from it being too hot for that sort of work in summertime, wouldn 8767 t it be best to cut wood when the sap is in the roots?
Plus many kinds of trees will sprout and regrow pretty quickly from the established roots- for totally renewable firewood, fence post, fence rail, and pole building wood- among other uses. You get MUCH quicker regrowth than from planting seedlings, though the sprouts may have to be thinned depending on what you want to use the resprouted wood for.
Hardy Japanese maple seedlings should be safe outside at almost any age. They are often sown in a bed then after they germinate just left in that bed through the very next winter. If you 8767 re purple ghost is getting sunlight and is still green it might not be purple ghost at all.
Disposable Mouse Trap: 8776 Dry 8776 corn grits or oats , Mix in 8776 Dry 8776 grout or cement or plaster. Place in empty, 8776 DRY 8776 7 litre pop bottle. Place in traveled path of rodent. Replace lid and place in garbage can. PS Any thing a mouse will eat will do as bait. Just make sure you get inside of bottle. Put as many as possible in garden, or around plants. etc. Elayne
Anna, an old-fashion regular mouse trap is what to use. Now 8767 s the perfect time for good trapping. It 8767 s easy to see
all the holes they make before profuse growth begins in the garden.
I know exactly how you feel! Only we gardeners with vole problems know how exciting it is to hear a trap go off after just setting it! So encouraging.
Thanks for coming back and posting the good news David.
I have about 75 or more Osage Orange trees on my property in Howard county MD. I always wondered about the big green balls they drop. Tell me more.
